Sawyer Products Picaridin Bug Repellant
I have been using the Sawyer Picaridin bug spray for many years now and when I heard about the new lotion packets I’ll admit, I was skeptical. I @Im_NicoleMarie have been using their spray since needing a DEET free product to travel to Puerto Rico with during the Zika outbreak. Since then I have become a fan of both the 3oz spray for travel and the .5oz pen spray for backpacking. We’re gonna give one lucky woman who hikes a prize pack of $100 worth of product from @sawyerproducts because while hiking and camping are our jam… bugs are not!
So why Picaridin and how does it work?
Derived from piperine in pepper plants, Sawyer Picaridin is a synthetic replica of a natural solution that has proved to be a very potent formula on mosquitoes, ticks, and flies while still being family friendly, gear safe, and very comfortable to wear on your skin. Sawyer’s Picaridin insect repellent is more effective at repelling biting flies than DEET. Picaridin is effective against the Yellow Fever Mosquito, which can transmit the Zika Virus. Picaridin spray is effective for up to 12 hours against mosquitoes and ticks, while the lotion is effective for up to 14 hours. Both provide up to 8 hours of protection against biting flies, gnats, chiggers, and sand flies. The non-greasy spray and lotion have a pleasant low odor that evaporates when dry and won’t damage plastics or synthetic coatings. Picaridin is safe for use on clothing, backpacks, synthetic fabrics, watches, sunglasses, and more.
I absolutely love the lotion for targeted and quick application and the packets are great for day hikes and backcountry adventures! Shop all Sawyer Picaridin Products HERE and enter our giveaway on social media HERE (contest closes on August 14th).
