Merrell Zion Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot

We recently took the Zion Mid Waterproof hiking boot for a weekend trip to the desert for some hiking and camping.

We expected cooler temperatures, so the first thing we noticed about the Zion was the ventilation features. The Zion features a ballistic mesh and leather upper with a breathable lining. M Select Dry is also employed to let moisture escape and it works to keep moisture out as well. The full grain leather is also waterproof.

I’m a huge fan of a mid boot that is lightweight and the Zion really delivers! The Zion is built on a running platform and it fits and feels like a sneaker that is made for casual and tough hiking. Here in Southern California much of our trails are rugged and rocky, especially in the desert, and these hikers move quickly while giving you the protection that you need from rocks, ruts, and peskier elements too, like yucca plants and cactus.
