FAQs

What is Women Who Hike?

Women Who Hike began as a social media channel in 2015. Since then, we have grown into a worldwide community where women can connect with each other, both on and off the trail. Women Who Hike hosts and facilitates events with community and stewardship in mind. Follow us on social media @womenwhohike, read our blog, submit or attend an event, and find women who hike near you via our Facebook groups.

About Our Women Who Hike Groups

Our Facebook groups connect women who hike all over the world. You can find a group near you here. You can use these groups to find women who hike in your local community, ask about local trails, gear advice, and create your own meet up or group event.

I don’t have Facebook, how do I find out about group hikes and events?

Please note that due to COVID-19, we are currently not hosting any events. Our online calendar will soon include events hosted by other groups, orgs, trail conservancies, etc. Our events going forward will be more intentional, stewardship based, and also be open to all. If you have an event (virtual events too!) that you would like to be added to our calendar, submit it to us via email here. Informal events and meet ups can be found within our Facebook groups.

How do I become a member?

*Please note that in order to be more inclusive, we are considering moving away from our membership. Our membership product is still available via our website, on the Shop Our Store page.* Proceeds collected from our membership go back into the community and ensure that more women are getting outside and on the trail. We are also a 1% For The Planet company and give back to a network of organizations that are working towards a healthy planet. Members also receive additional perks like promo codes for outdoor apparel and gear and are first to know about our giveaways on social media.

Can I bring my dog on a group hike?

We love dogs! If dogs are permitted on the trail, we leave this decision up to the ambassador who is hosting the hike. If dogs are allowed on a group hike it is noted in the Eventbrite details.

I want to register for a hike, but it says its full?

Women Who Hike is a Leave No Trace community partner. This means that we follow a set of outdoor ethics while we are out on the trail. One of those established ethics by Leave No Trace is to be considerate of other visitors. For us, this means adhering to any set limits for groups on the trail. Our larger events are often times stewardship based, like a trash clean up or trail day. We also participate in special events like National Trails Day, National Public Lands Day, etc. Our events are also sometimes c0-led by by trail conservancies and Park staff.

I’m a member but I’m not receiving emails?

If you are signed up through our website and not receiving emails please email us info@womenwhohike.com to let us know. We can either change your email address on file (please include in your email to us) or we can help look into why you are not receiving emails from us. Often times our emails might be found in other folders within your email account. We also recommend adding us, info@womenwhohike.com, as a contact to help remedy this issue. If you are a member and neglecting to open our emails over a long period of time, your emails may start bouncing back to us. We can help in assisting you and solving this problem if you contact us.
