Black Diamond Trail Pro Trekking Poles
With every hike, comes the all important question: poles or no poles? I, @Im_NicoleMarie like to travel, hike and backpack as light as possible of course which begs the question… when is it absolutely necessary to bring them along? Here is what hiking poles do for you: poles reduce the impact on your legs, knees, ankles, and feet, which is especially true when going downhill, which is where and when I actually use my poles on the trail. Trekking poles also reduce compressive force on the knees by up to 25 percent as well as provide stability on just about any trail.
So… what do you look for when purchasing a set of hiking poles? I went straight to the source, @REI of course and purchased these @blackdiamond Trail Pro Shock Trekking Poles which are specifically designed for women. I had the option of shocks or no shocks… but chose to pay a little more money for the shocks which come in handy when you have your overnight and backpacking gear on. The shock absorbers are subtle, yet necessary and worth the money. One of my favorite things about these poles are the fact that they are 3 sections and break down to just 24” long which is extremely important to me given my short stature: 5’2” as they do not hit the backs of my legs when strapped to my bag. The 3-section poles provide patented FlickLock Pro adjustability at both connection points and solid, slip-free security. To adjust you simply flick the lock open, set the length and flick the lock closed. They adjust in literally seconds, which is quite handy when you’re on the go along your trek. The @blackdiamond poles are made of lightweight aluminum, feature foam grips with wrist straps, low profile baskets and come with interchangeable carbide tips. The shock absorbers on these specific poles as mentioned above help to cushion light strikes and hard hits, all the while controlling any rebound on the trail.
